In fact, the open source community is doing just fine with smaller models at just 7 billion or 13 billion parameters, and that’s because the compute power of people’s AI PC or MacBooks are about that level. And so, I do not think having more open source activity there would necessarily contribute to truly fundamental frontier AI breakthrough that Tristan is worried about.
