And the actual reason — I think the true reason — is that Wikipedia exists. Simply the fact that Wikipedia exists, and all the work that you do, carves out a space that any commercial entity has to compete with Wikipedia in order for it to be financially viable. But Wikipedia is free. So now they have to compete with free, and it’s highly reliable, and it’s super social, and all that kind of stuff. So every single time you make an edit, you are carving out the space that in this particular medium — of an encyclopedia that’s online and free and gifted to everybody, and easily accessible, and multilingual — you are creating that space that is very, very difficult for a corporate entity to come into for it to be financially viable.
