We sent text messages to 200,000 randomly selected people. 447 were chosen by lottery to mirror Taiwan's demographics. They deliberated in 44 rooms online, about ten people to a group. Retired teachers, tech workers, victims of fraud. Each room was aided by AI transcription and synthesis, not AI deciding, but AI listening. Sorting arguments. Surfacing agreement. Making sure the quietest voice was not drowned out by the loudest.
