
And so my conclusion was that if people build their self-worth in something that's extrinsic to them, then it's always unstable and leads to anxiety. But if somebody builds their self-worth in something intrinsic -- like my curiosity, my collaborations with people, and my civic care -- then things are like civic muscles that we can train in ourselves. It doesn't rely on competitive comparisons. Then people tend to be more confident and less bullying.
